How to script and storyboard
Filmmakers often use storyboards as a way to structure their videos. We’ve included a sample storyboard in our resources listed below that you can refer to. You can see that we’ve copied and pasted each line of our script in ‘text’ the column on the right. In the ‘audio’ column, we’re just adding ‘music’ for now because we’re only doing a video that’s text + visuals.

Sourcing visuals
There are many resources online for finding creative commons visuals, from Pexels to Pixabay to Wikimedia Commons. Creative commons visuals are really helpful when you’re doing an explainer video, or when you can’t leave your office or home.

Sourcing music
Just like you don't want to use visuals that you don't have rights to, you don't want to use copyrighted music either. You can subscribe to different music platforms, but most of these are paid. For free, Creative Commons music, there are options like Pixabay, or the audio libraries on Facebook or YouTube.

Basic editing in VN Video app for iOS and Android
In this module, you'll learn how to get started in video editing using the free VN Video app. This first edit will allow you to make a short video using just visuals and some text.

Shooting a piece-to-camera

Recording a Voice Over
Sometimes, you don’t need to record a full piece to camera, you just want a voice over for your video. In this chapter, we’ll show you how to record the best audio for your voice overs.

Shooting an interview
Shooting an interview isn’t that different from doing a piece to camera. So in this video, we’ll review some of the things we covered in the piece to camera chapter. You can watch this chapter before you go in the field, so you know what steps to follow when you’re with a source.

Shooting B-Roll
In this video, we'll cover how to record B-roll visuals. B-roll is footage that adds value and context to your piece to camera or interviews. It's an important way to convey information to your audience.

Advanced editing in VN Video
In this video, we’ll be showing you how to cut your interview down to something that's more usable for a video package. This video will allow you to take your video editing to a deeper level by adding more complex layers.

Sharing your video
In this chapter, we'll walk you through how to export your video, and share it with your team.
